National Philharmonic, led artistically by Maestro Piotr Gajewski, is a resident ensemble at the Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Maryland (Washington, DC Metro Area). The Music Center at Strathmore is a $100 million, state-of-the-art concert hall inaugurated in February 2005. With a budget of $1.9 million in the 2010-2011 season, the National Philharmonic will perform 29 concerts at the Music Center at Strathmore, including five concerts featuring the National Philharmonic Chorale. The National Philharmonic performs for over 20,000 school children each year through educational concerts for 2nd and 5th grade students. The Development Manager position is ideal for aspiring managers with 3 to 5 years of progressive fundraising experience. The position is responsible for developing and meeting the goals of a comprehensive annual fundraising campaign in close coordination with the Board of Directors. The Development Manager will report directly to the President, and will participate actively as a senior member of the National Philharmonic administrative team. Bachelor’s Degree required. Knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge is preferable, but not required. Development Manager will attend most National Philharmonic concerts and Board meetings; some evenings and weekends required.

The specific duites will include:

  1. Develops and implements a comprehensive annual fundraising campaign. Coordinates annual fund asks and employs necessary resources to ensure successful closure of contributions, including major gifts. Also meets the Heritage Society’s planned giving goals.
  2. Advances a high level of donor service, including but not limited to contributions record keeping, gift processing, donor cultivation, report development and distribution and creation of fundraising collateral materials.
  3. Works closely and cooperatively with National Philharmonic administrative and artistic teams to advance the mission of the National Philharmonic.
  4. Manages paid and volunteer staff as necessary to accomplish the goals of the fundraising plan.
  5. Works cordially and professionally with National Philharmonic’s partners at the Music Center at Strathmore to better the Music Center at Strathmore community while advancing the goals of the National Philharmonic.
